The world's first cross-border API marketplace.

Role: Founder, aamzng — pitch, design lead, delivery negotiation  ·  Partners: MAS · AFIN · Singapore's Chief FinTech Officer · BCG  ·  Domain: Strategic programme leadership

Context

APIX is an initiative of the ASEAN Financial Innovation Network (AFIN), backed by the Monetary Authority of Singapore — the world's first cross-border, open-architecture API marketplace for financial institutions. A platform designed to let banks and fintechs across markets discover, test, and integrate with each other.

The challenge

A first-of-its-kind platform, at the regulator level, with no template to copy — and a stakeholder map most agencies would decline: a central bank, an industry body, a country's Chief FinTech Officer, a global consultancy, and multiple delivery partners, all with a stake in the outcome.

What I did

Through my consultancy, aamzng, I pitched and won the engagement — then led it. I orchestrated the Monetary Authority of Singapore, AFIN, Singapore's Chief FinTech Officer, BCG, and the delivery partners around a shared direction. My team led the design, and I negotiated the delivery across the group.

How I led

The work lived and died on multi-stakeholder alignment across Singapore, Thailand, and the wider ASEAN region — holding a coalition of parties, none of whom I controlled, to one product and one delivery path. [The hardest negotiation and the turning points to be added.]

Outcome

APIX launched at the Singapore FinTech Festival — the world's first cross-border, open-architecture API marketplace for financial institutions.

What it proves

This is strategic programme leadership at the regulator-and-industry level: winning the mandate, aligning a coalition of powerful stakeholders, and shipping a genuinely first-of-its-kind platform. Very few design or product leaders have run anything at this altitude.

  • Programme leadership
  • Regulator & industry stakeholders
  • Business development
  • Open finance
